SANFORD, Fla. - We've learned federal officials will reportedly meet with Trayvon Martin's family in Florida today. And a special prosecutor has been appointed by the state.
Thousands rallied last night at a park in Florida to demand justice for the 17-year-old.
The rally was supposed to be a held at a nearby church but was moved to accommodate the bigger crowd.
Martin was shot and killed last month near his father's fiancée’s house.
George Zimmerman, the neighborhood watch leader who killed the unarmed teen, said he did it in self defense.
But there's anger over how police handled the case.
We've learned they never interviewed key witnesses like Martin’s girlfriend who was on the phone with him as the incident happened.
And they never gave Zimmerman a toxicology test.
The town's police chief yesterday said he would temporarily step down.
