Flying on Spirit Airlines is about to get a bit costlier if you wait until the last minute to pay for your carry-on bags.
Starting on November 6, any customer who waits to pay the fee at the boarding gate will have to pay $100, according to an article in USA Today. Anything that needs to go in the over-head bins is considered a carry-on. Items that fit under your seat are free.
The airline is also raising the price you pay for a carry-on item at the airport kiosk from $40 to $50.
Luggage that is checked in will cost between $8 to $10 more and fees for bags checked online will increase between $2 and $5.
Spirit is one of two airlines that charges for carry-ons, Allegiant is the other. USA Today reports that in the first quarter, Spirit's average revenue from fees per passenger on a round-trip flight topped $100 for the first time.
