Cumberland County, TN - An animal shelter in Tennessee is hopping the cold hard facts will persuade people to open their homes to needy animals.

The Cumberland County Animal Shelter has started sending out alerts  showing the pictures of the dogs about to be put down.

The fliers go out through email and onto social media sites.

They target possible owners as well as other shelters.

Sometimes they have themes. Around Christmas they sent out a "12 Dogs Of Christmas" flyer.

So far the campaign has been a big success.

Since it started the shelter is euthanizing 45% of the animals. That's down from 85%.
