QUOTES FROM DISCIPLINARY ACTION DOCUMENTS:
--“Order Staying Summary Suspension is terminated. Probation for thirty months with terms and conditions including, but not limited to, a prohibition on prescribing and dispensing CDS. The Board found the physician’s guilty of unprofessional conduct in the practice of medicine, failed to meet standards of quality medical care and failed to maintain adequate medical records in the prescribing of Controlled Dangerous Substances.”
--“Following a hearing, the Board stayed the Order for Summary Suspension with conditions: (1) Dr. Fox shall not prescribe any Controlled Dangerous Substances as defined in Maryland statute and regulations; (2) Dr. Fox may continue to practice interventional pain management related only to the performance of percutaneous procedures but excluding oral or intravenous medical pain management; and (3) The stay is further conditioned on Dr. Fox’s cooperation with any reasonable efforts of the Board to determine if the conditions are being met.”
--“The Board determined that the physician’s conduct constituted a substantial likelihood of a risk of serious harm to the public health, safety and welfare based on the physician’s prescribing of opiod medications while failing to use reasonable safeguards or to exercise due diligence.”
--Health plan had issues with doctor’s prescription of opioids…review of records said “His prescribing is similar to the pill mills in the southeast and is medically inappropriate…his patient population reviewed was a combination of addicts, doctor shoppers and patients where opiates were unwarranted”
