I write it here all the time, I am in no
way an expert when it comes to health, fitness, or diet. I
just happen to be interested and passionate about all of it.
However since I am
not an expert, I usually refrain from writing a whole lot
about diet.
I am a healthy eater, and I love to eat. I also love to
cook. However, I usually steer clear of health books.
Most my recipes either come from family, friends, the
internet, or experimentation. For the most part – I am
not a big fan of diet books. I find them preachy and
complicated. The only one I have ever read from front to
back,
Skinny Bitch. It was ok, I didn’t love it
– but it got me to notice something: there are a ton of
diet/health books out there with the word
skinny in the title.
Here are just some examples:
Skinny Bitch, Naturally Thin: Unleash Your Skinny Girl and Free
Yourself from a Lifetime of Dieting, Skinny Chicks Don’t Eat
Salad, The Skinny on Losing Weight Without Being Hungry, The
Secrets of Skinny Chicks: How to Feel Great in Your Favorite Jeans
When it Doesn’t Come Naturally…
I could actually keep going. There are more. And
please note—of all those books I just mentioned, one is
written by a doctor.
It kind of bothers me. Again, I am not expert but I
know that health and fitness isn’t about being skinny.
And believe or not—being skinny is not everyone’s
goal. Just a thought…feel free to leave yours below.
