BALTIMORE (AP) -- The Baltimore City State's Attorney's office says a city jury has convicted a man charged in a fatal shooting near the campus of Morgan State University.
A news release issued Tuesday says the jury on Friday found 25-year-old Jason Allen guilty of first-degree murder in the February 2008 slaying of 20-year-old Jeff Payne. Authorities says the victim was shot at the Morgan View Apartment Complex while attending a going away gathering for a Morgan State student.
Prosecutors say the shooting was the result of an earlier fight. Twenty-three-year-old co-defendant Powerful Aguilar pleaded guilty in November to being an accessory after the fact.
