Friends and family of Yeardley Love gathered this morning at The Cathedral of Mary Our Queen church on N. Charles Street to celebrate the life of the murdered University of Virginia lacrosse player.

Many of Love's teamates from the University of Virginia arrived together by bus for the service which lasted about 90 minutes.

Julie Myers, head coach of the Virginia women's lacrosse team, spoke about Love as did family members.

The program for the service also included an essay Love had written when she was just a freshman at Notre Dame Prep.

Love's family asked for donations to two funds created in Yeardley's memory rather than flowers.

Love's former boyfriend, George Huguely, also a lacrosse player from the University of Virginia, is still being held on charges stemming from the murder.
