An electrician working in a yard at a Cecil County home discovered a human hand on Tuesday.

Maryland State Police believe the hand was taken from a medical school years ago.

TFC. Dave Feltman says the hand appeared to be surgically removed.  It was muddy with only the fingertips showing signs of decay.

Feltman contacted Will Saxberg, the son of a previous owner of the North East home.  The 70-year-old told investigators the hand was one of two souvenirs he took from the University of Maryland's Medical School while he was enrolled there more than 50 years ago.

Saxburg also took a cranium, which eneded up at a Harford County School where Saxberg taught for 30 years.

The hand was sent to the Office of the State Medical Examiner.  No charges have been filed.
