Relatives of a truck driver killed in when his vehicle went over the Bay Bridge have filed a $7 million suit against the woman whose car crossed the center line, leading to the accident.

On Aug. 10, 57-year-old John Short of Willards died in his tractor trailer after crashing over the side of the Bay Bridge. Authorities say Candy Baldwin's car veered into oncoming traffic moments before Short drove through the bridge's walls and into the water.

Short's widow, children and father filed suit Tuesday in Queen Anne's Circuit Court.

The family claims Baldwin, who was 19, had been drinking illegally before the accident.

Keith S. Franz, a lawyer for the family, said, "Our experts believe she was impaired by alcohol."
