Rescue Ready

When the terrorism attacks of September 11th shook the nation, nobody could imagine what the next step would be.

Fire Captain Bob Murray arrived at Ground Zero in New York City the night of September 11th, and says the technology at his disposal then, made his job next to impossible.

Flash forward to today, and he shows ABC2 News the County's Urban Search and Rescue Vehicle.

The state of the art tractor trailer contains all the tools needed in the event of a water, or ground rescue.

The mobile unit includes listening devices, to help find trapped people who could be buried in rubble.  It also includes items like concrete cutting saws.

Cpt. Murray says it's a toolbox capable of dealing with most emergency situations.  And he says there are mobile units like this now all over the country--that can be mobilized in emergency situations.
