Brushing your teeth does more than just make them pearly white, it helps to keep your teeth and gums healthy.

There are a lot of people who don't know much about proper oral health. Believe it or not, hard toothbrushes are not always the best and there is an art to flossing.

"A soft bristle toothbrush, with very soft, very gentle circular motion  actually cleans  your teeth better and it's safer because it's less abrasive to your teeth and gums", says Dr. Haress Rahim from Bloo Dental. "The best way to floss is to gently put the floss between the teeth and gently move up and down along the tooth surface.  Versus snapping the floss in between the teeth which can actually damage the gums."

Health officials recommend you brush at least twice a day. Try to stop smoking, and visit a dentist at least twice a year.
