Towson, MD - The 18th annual Komen Maryland Race for the Cure is taking place in early October and thousands are already registering to raise money to fight breast cancer.

In 2009 Komen Maryland had 29,124 participants in the Race for the Cure, of which, 2,006 were breast cancer survivors. Team participants accounted for more than 70% of Race participants and are some of the most successful fundraisers.

Seventy-five percent of the funds will stay in the state of Maryland. In Maryland this year, and estimated 207,090 new cases of invasive breast cancer will occur.

Interested parties are invited to participate as an individual, on a team, volunteer or simply fundraise.
