BALTIMORE (WMAR) -
The U.S. Supreme Court made a decision on President Obama's health care overhaul.
SCOTUS upheld the heart of the plan - the individual mandate.
The justices ruled in favor of the requirement that most Americans can be required to have health insurance or pay a penalty.
The ruling gives the president a major victory heading into the election.
Chief Justice John Roberts joined the court's four liberal justices in the decision.
The four dissenting justices said the law "exceeds federal power".
The historic overhaul will continue to take effect over the next several years.
That will affect the way countless Americans receive and pay for their personal medical care.
