Whether you're shopping at the grocery store, or checking out a farmers market, dieticians say spring is the perfect time to indulge in seasonal fruits and vegetables packed with nutrients.

Cherries are a great source of vitamin C, and mangos have a good amount of vitamin E.

Recent studies linking folic acid to a reduced chance of autism have many nutritionists recommending natural folates like asparagus this spring.

"Folate we know is important for women in their child-bearing years because that folate helps to prevent neural-tube defects" says Kristin Kirkpatrick, R.D, Cleveland Clinic.

"And so, asparagus provides us with a great source of that folate, also high in vitamin C and also high in potassium, as well."

Nutritionists also recommend fennel.

It tastes a little like licorice and it's loaded with vitamin C, potassium, and fiber.
