Diabetes costs skyrocket

WASHINGTON, D.C. -
The cost of diabetes has skyrocketed in the last five years. It has jumped almost 41% since 2007.
The number includes health care costs and lost productivity.
The American Diabetes Association says the increase is not because medicine and treatment is getting more expensive, but because so many people have the disease.
More than 22 million people have type 1 or type 2 diabetes.
