For some people snacking at night can get out of control, and add unwanted pounds.
Night snackers tend to turn to convenience foods like chips, pastries and soda, which are unhealthy when eaten in excess.
Dietitians say there are multiple reasons people may overdo the snacking at night.
Frequently people snack because they are bored, or tired. People may also snack at night because they didn't get enough to eat at dinner.
To overcome mindless late-night eating, have a balanced dinner with protein and fiber to keep you full at night.
Dietitians also recommend replacing unhealthy snacks with healthier options.
Butter-less popcorn, fruit and nuts are all good choices.
