It is the start of another football weekend, and from the pee-wees to the pros, hard hits can leave a lasting impact on a player.
The signs of a concussion may not always be severe, so doctors say parents, coaches and trainers should be cautious about sending kids back out on the field after a hit to the head.
If a child exhibits any concussion symptoms at all, they should be pulled out of activities.
Dizziness, lightheadedness, wobbling off the field, having trouble concentrating or even just not feeling right are all possible warning signs.
After the game, headaches and balance issues are signs someone has suffered a concussion.
They may be hard to diagnose now, but researchers are working to develop better on-field balance tests, and even a blood test to tell right away if a young athlete has suffered a concussion.
