The American Academy of Pediatrics says playing sports in the heat is OK for healthy young people.

But they warn you need to take certain precautions.

  • Be sure to drink plenty of water
  • Take more frequent timeouts, and
  • Make sure there is emergency treatment on the sidelines.

The recommendations come a week after two Georgia high school football players died following practices in 90-plus degree heat.
