BALTIMORE - You know how hot your car can get, but do you know how fast it happens?

Doctors say in 10 minutes, temperatures can rise 20 degrees and for kids just a few minutes can be deadly. Their temperatures warm five times faster than adults.

Excuses most often heard after a child has been left in a hot car:

  • More than half of people say the child was "forgotten" by a caregiver.
  • Thirty percent say the child was playing alone in the car.
  • This is hard to believe -- Seventeen percent of people *intentionally* left the child in a hot car.
