The best way to protect yourself from the sun is to wear a hat, long sleeves, and long pants, but in the heat of the summertime, you'll likely want to show more skin. It's important that you know which sunscreens will protect you and your family the most effectively.
According to the " 2 012 Sunscreen Report " released Wednesday by the Environmental Working Group, just 1 in 4 sunscreens are effective and safe to use.
Sunscreens that made the cut don't contain certain ingredients found in vitamin A, they are lotions rather than sprays and are between SPF15 and SPF50
They also protect against UVA and UVB rays.
To check out if your sunscreen is one of the good ones, the EWG has created a website. You can type in your brand and see where it stacks up against other similar products. 1,800 different sunscreens, moisturizers, and makeups are listed. Click here to check it out.
