Grand Prix driver Josef Newgarden is the latest athlete to show his softer side.
Newgarden posed with a BARCS kitten for the shelter's "Soft Side Campaign" on Thursday. Now he's crediting his second place finish in the race to the kittens.
The campaign was created to help combat animal abuse. The photos are meant to show tough guys cuddling with animals.
Adam Jones, Matt Wieters and Nate McLouth of the Orioles and Torrey Smith and Arthur Jones of the Ravens have posed for the campaign in the past.
