HYATTSVILLE, Md - As students across the country head back to school, U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan, USDA Deputy Under Secretary Janey Thornton, Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley (invited)  and other state, county and city elected officials and education leaders are joining Share Our Strength for a panel discussion on hunger in the classroom.

A new national survey, "Hunger In Our Schools: Share Our Strength's Teachers Report 2012 will be released.

Panelists will discuss findings of the survey and solutions to the problem of hunger in schools, including innovative strategies that states, including Maryland are pursuing to connect students to federal food and nutrition programs such as the School Breakfast Program.

The event will be held at Northwestern High School in Hyattsville at 9:00am on Thursday August 23rd.
