BALTIMORE - On Saturday December 8th St. Mary's College of Maryland will host a Baltimore City Scholarship Benefit Concert at the Baltimore School for the Arts in Baltimore. It's an event to help the college reach its goal of raising $500,000 for need based scholarships for students from Baltimore City.
In August 2011, the France-Merrick Foundation approved a challenge grant in the amount of $100,000 that is contingent on the college raising $400,000 to support students from Baltimore City.
The France-Merrick challenge is a call to action. It's a call to transform the lives of academically talented students who are unable to pay the full cost of college tuition.
People who attend the concert will hear special selections. The event starts at 4pm at the Baltimore School for the Arts in Baltimore.
