BALTIMORE - The Maryland Summer Center for Urban Sustainability at the Maryland Science Center in Baltimore provides students with a chance to analyze three strands of urban sustainability: urban agriculture, energy and water.

Students will develop and present a project proposal  that includes growing food in an around Baltimore, exploring the environment and economic impacts associated with the extraction and burning of fossil fuels and exploring the causes and effects of pollution in Baltimore's Inner Harbor.

The 2012 Maryland Summer Centers Program provides summer educational opportunities for Maryland's gifted and talented students.  The program offers advanced, rigorous, experimental learning opportunities that nurture students' talents and ability in unique learning environments

The program is offered to students in seventh to ninth grades.  It runs from June 25th to July 15th from 8:30am to 3:00pm at the Maryland Science Center in Baltimore.
