Celebrity chef supports school breakfast program

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - A celebrity chef from Maryland will lobby lawmakers in support of a school breakfast program.

Bryan Voltaggio, owner of Volt restaurant in Frederick, will speak to a House of Delegates subcommittee Monday afternoon about the merits of increasing funding for the Maryland Meals for Achievement program.

Run by the Maryland State Department of Education, the program provides in-classroom breakfasts for students at 228 high-need schools across the state.

Voltaggio gained fame after he was featured on the Bravo television program Top Chef.

He will speak to the House Appropriations Committee's Subcommittee on Education.
