TOWSON, Md. - Towson University has named its new president.

Maravene Loeschke will take over the presidency on January 1, 2012. Dr. Loeschke is currently the president of Mansfield University in Pennsylvania and has also served as provost of Wilkes University.

Dr. Loeschke is a Baltimore native and served on the Towson faculty for more than 30 years, from 1970 to 2002. During her last 5 years at Towson, she was dead of the College of Fine Arts and Communication.

Throughout her career, Dr. Loeschke has focused her leadership on the development of students, faculty, and staff. She has earned a reputation for advancing excellence on campuses as well as developing mutually beneficial partnerships between universities and their greater communities.
