BALTIMORE, Md - This week tens of thousands of Americans in all 50 states are gathering to celebrate education reform. It's all part of National School Choice Week.
The community wants better educational options for children. Andrew Campanella is the Vice President of National School Choice Week.
"The goal is to shine a spotlight on the need to empower parents to select better schools for their kids, better public, private, charter, virtual, magnet and homeschools. It does not matter what , we want every child to go to a good school," said Campanella.
One child drops out of an American School every 26 seconds. America's standing in Math and Literacy rankings lag behind 34 other countries.
Advocates believe that with these types of statistics, educational choice is the solution to the growing crisis of educational quality.
Critics are steadfast in support of Public Schools and the need for quality Public School Education. Tina Dove is with the National Opportunity to Learn Campaign.
"If we start focusing on the real problems, which are children not being given the opportunity to learn, public education would work fine if we focused on the things that really need to be focused on and stop being distracted," said Dove.
Everyone agrees that children should have the best possible education.
