TIMONIUM, Md. - Abrakadoodle Art Studio for Kids is a child's dream. It's a place where they can come and create new things through art education classes.
Everything in the place is for little people from aprons, to chairs and artwork on the walls. It allows children to think outside the box and express themselves.
"It allows kids to be creative and have fun. They are stimulated in a creative environment to work with other children. It offers team building with lots of positive benefits. We built this studio for them," said Pat Lakatta, Executive Director of Abrakadoodle Art Studio for Kids.
Art Education is not only for the studio. Organizers also provide Art Teachers in 14 preschools and elementary schools, which serve about 1400 children.
Shannon Powell teaches art classes at Saint Pius X School on Mondays and Wednesdays.
"We do a range of projects. We do some projects involving clay. We have done some sculpture projects and right now we are working on a mural," said Shannon Powell, Abrakadoodle Art Teacher.
Children in arts programs learn creativity, problem solving, craftsmanship and self confidence.
"I like it because I like to show my creativity and I like to draw," said Sierra Cockerille, art student.
"I like to do paintings and I like to draw," said Kelsee Perry, art student.
"I think it's great and I love making things and being able to paint them and bring them home," said Dallas Ector, art student.
Many schools are cutting art classes because of budget cuts, which makes Abrakadoodle so important.
"By offering art on wheels, we are mobile. We go to the schools. We are in the schools several times a week and we can work in classrooms. We also stock the art rooms," said Lakatta.
Abrakadoodle Art Education is devoted to inspiring the imaginations of its students and building lifelong skills. The creative, fun experiences generate long term educational benefits.
Abrakadoodle Art Education is designed to teach students from Preschool to Eighth grade. The art studio is located on Deereco Road in Timonium.
