ANNAPOLIS, Md. (WMAR) - Seventeen different Anne Arundel County Public Schools will start the school year with new leadership.
As part of a series of promotions approved and reassignments reviewed by the Board of Education of Anne Arundel County, new assignments have been finalized.
Fifteen of the assignments have been finalized, and at least nine schools will have first-year principals when schools open in August.
The schools and their new principals are:
- Crofton Elementary, Ginger Robertson, formerly assistant principal at Pershing Hill Elementary
- Georgetown East Elementary, Andre Dillard, formerly assistant principal at Georgetown East Elementary
- ElementaryRippling Woods Elementary, Michael Powell, formerly an assistant principal in Prince George's County
- Waugh Chapel Elementary, Amanda Edmonds, formerly assistant principal at Nantucket Elementary
- Annapolis Middle, Dennis Kelly, formerly assistant principal at Annapolis Middle
- Bates Middle, Paul DeRoo, formerly assistant principal at Bates Middle
- Crofton Middle, Nuria Williams, formerly assistant principal at Annapolis Middle
- Northeast High, Jason Williams, formerly assistant principal at Corkran Middle
- Southern High, Marc Procaccini, formerly assistant principal at Old Mill High
In addition, Superintendent Kevin Maxwell transferred six principals to lead new schools for the 2012-2013 school year. Those schools and their new principals are:
- Arnold Elementary, Shauna Kauffman, formerly principal at Crofton Elementary
- Benfield Elementary, Deborah Short, formerly principal at Shady Side Elementary
- Jacobsville Elementary, Gwen Atkinson, formerly principal at Rippling Woods Elementary
- Arundel Middle, Yolanda Leonard-Clark, formerly acting principal at Meade High
- Severna Park Middle, Sharon Hansen, formerly principal at Crofton Middle
- Meade High, John Yore, formerly a principal in Montgomery County and Delaware and most recently assistant principal at Old Mill Middle School North
Principals still need to be named for Cape St. Claire and Shady Side elementary schools. The changes take effect on June 27.
