ELKRIDGE, Md. - A woman in Elkridge got a major scare Monday after a man tried to carjack her with a knife.
According to Howard County Police, the incident happened around 8:30 pm in the 5800 block of Washington Blvd. They say Erik Madison approached the woman at a gas station and asked for money. When the woman refused Madison took out a knife and continued to threaten the woman and tried to order her into the car.
The woman refused, threw her purse at him and ran into the gas station. Police say Madison grabbed the wallet and walked away.
Gas station employees recognized Madison from the day before when he tried to get a job there. Police later arrested him.
Madison is charged with attempted car jacking, attempted kidnapping, first degree assault and other related charges.
