Jesse Bowen is charged with attempted armed robbery, attempted robbery, attempted armed carjacking, possession of a dangerous weapon, first-degree assault and two drug-related charges.
He was taken into police custody Tuesday after an Aberdeen police officer recognized him from ATM footage of the incident outside the NBRS bank branch on W. Bel Air Avenue, police said.
“The officer had had contact with this individual a week or so prior, and when they saw the photo it spurred their memory and they said 'yeah I think that's who this is,'” Budnick said.
Investigators do not believe Bowen is the man responsible for the July kidnapping.
“We'll certainly look at it, but the physical descriptions are not really consistent with what we were looking at last year,” Lt. Budnick said.
Bowen has six charges pending in cases not related to Tuesday's attempted carjacking, including a felony burglary charge.
