OCEAN CITY, Md. (WMAR) - Ocean City Beach Patrol helped police catch a theft suspect Wednesday evening.

Police responded for an eviction at the Islander Motel, but while they were there, officers heard a call from the Beach Patrol who were looking for a suspect in a reported theft from a beach stand vendor at 19th Street and the beach.

Patrol officers provided a description of a container, as well as a description of three white male suspects. One of the officer, who had been assisting at the eviction, was dispatched to the beach scene.

While enroute, the officer saw a group of subjects matching the description of the suspects and carrying a box like the one described.

The officer also saw the men walking to the Islander Motel. The man in possession of the stolen box was identified as Shane David Trump, 20.

The victim of the theft positively identified and identified the box as his and found a large quantity of cash as well as the victims cell phone.

Police say the suspects in the theft were also involved in the eviction, however, Trump was the only one involved in the theft.

Trump was charged with felony theft.
