Ex-Sheriff Deputy accused of child abuse

WICOMICO COUNTY, Md. (WMAR) -  

Maryland State Police have arrested and charged a Wicomico County man on child abuse charges. 
 
Police arrested Kendall Elmer West, 44, of Salisbury, and charged him with fourth degree sex offense and second degree assault, among other charges. 
 
The investigation started last week after police received a request from the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office to conduct the investigation. At the time of the alleged incident, West was employed as a Sheriff's Deputy in Wicomico County. 
 
Investigators learned that the juvenile victim had allegedly became acquainted with West about 13-years ago. Further investigation revealed the relationship consisted of several sexually oriented incidents in various locations throughout Maryland. 
 
Police learned that the victim was a 15-year-old student attending a high school at the time of the incident. 
 
Although there is no indication at this time of other victims, police urge anyone who may have any information to call them at 443-783-0444.
