NORTH EAST, Md. (WMAR) - Maryland State Police have arrested and charged one man for stabbing a relative after an argument.
Troopers responded to the Lakeside Mobile Home Park in the 100 block of Champlain Court in North East at about 3:45 p.m. for a call reporting a domestic problem.
While troopers were enroute, they received another call stating that one of the people involved in that dispute had been stabbed.
When troopers arrived on the scene, they found 56-year-old Robert Allen Moore, with a stab wound to the abdomen. He was taken to Christiana Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Troopers took the suspect, his relative by marriage, 31-year-old Richard Charles Smart, Jr., into their custody.
Police say the stabbing started as an argument which then turned into a physical altercation and then into the stabbing.
Smart was charged with first and second degree assault and reckless endangerment.
Charges against Moore are pending from the State's Attorney.
