ELKTON, Md. (AP) - A woman who gave a pregnant 16-year-old the abortion pill has been sentenced to six months of home detention.

Sixty-two-year-old Sandra Craine pleaded guilty in December to reckless endangerment. The Cecil Whig reports she was sentenced on Monday.

Prosecutors say Craine gave a packet of RU-486, a drug she ordered from an overseas website and which is used to induce abortion in the first 10 weeks of pregnancy, to the teen, who was 20 weeks pregnant. They say the pills came in packaging that stated that they should be used only under a doctor's supervision. Houbs later, prosecutors say the teen delivered the baby, which died.
