Suspect in fatal shooting asks for evaluation

WESTMINSTER, Md. (AP) -
A lawyer for a man charged with murder in his girlfriend's shooting death is seeking a competency hearing for his client.
Twenty-six-year-old William Brueckmann is charged in the shooting death Monday of 21-year-old Brittany Warfield.
Attorney George Psoras filed the motion at Wednesday's bail review hearing in Carroll County District Court. Psoras wants Brueckmann to be evaluated at a state-run psychiatric hospital. The court did not rule on the motion.
Psoras said the shooting was not murder, but an accident with tragic consequences.
The Carroll County Times says charging documents indicate Brueckmann told police he was planning to committee suicide and Warfield was tried to take the gun from him with it discharged.
