WESTMINSTER, Md. (WMAR) - While many people were preparing to sit down for lunch Saturday afternoon, a 46-year-old man was hit by a bullet.

According to Westminster Police, they responded to a home in the 400 block of South Hills Court in Westminster following reports of a shooting.

Once crews arrived on the scene, they found Vygants Campe of Hanover on the first floor with a gunshot wound.

Campe was taken to the University Of Maryland Shock Trauma Center where he died during surgery.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that Campe was laying on the couch in the living room while visiting the owner of the house.

Police report that the owner of the house was handling a pistol on the second floor when it discharged.  The bullet traveled through the floor ant stuck Campe.

Investigators are still looking into the shooting and conferring with the he Carroll County State's Attorney's Office.
