WESTMINSTER, Md. (WMAR) -

The man accused in a deadly supermarket stabbing pleaded guilty this week, just one day before his trial was supposed to begin.

Zamani Lawson pleaded guilty Monday to voluntary manslaughter for the June death of his roommate and coworker Bergari Zardiashuili.

Shortly before midnight on June 20, 2012, a 911 call was received for a stabbing that had just occurred at the Martin's Supermarket in the 1300 block of Londontown Boulevard in Eldersburg.

Lawson was found standing near the store entrance when officers arrived, with what appeared to be blood on his shirt. Zardiashuili, 22, was found stabbed several times in a storage area. He was pronounced dead later that morning.

Lawson is set to be sentenced on April 23, 2013.
