SYKESVILLE, Md. (AP) - Maryland State Police have arrested two men they say were stealing metal from a closed state building.

Troopers were called to the old Henryton Center in Sykesville about 12:30 p.m. Wednesday after a truck pulling a trailer was seen on the grounds.

Troopers say they found two men cutting steel from the building and that the trailer and truck were full of steel, copper and aluminum.

Forty-six-year-old Mark Dewayne Walker of Rockville and 54-year-old Billy Joe Chapman of Boyds were charged with theft and burglary.

The Henryton Center was a tuberculosis hospital for African Americans and then a psychiatric facility. It closed in 1985.
