COCKEYSVILLE, Md. (WMAR) - Police in Baltimore County are searching for a woman who beat an elderly woman in her home this morning.

The victim, 74-year-old Gwyn Sirota says she went out this morning at about 8:30 to walk her dog and left her door unlocked. While walking she passed a woman in her 20's on the street and said hello, but little did she know that same woman would end up in her home.

Sirota said she felt uncomfortable and turned around to go back to her home in the Valley Crossing neighborhood of Cockeysville. When she got back to her home, she opened the door and yelled "hello, is anyone there?"  That's when she says the woman appeared and displayed a kitchen knife.

The suspect beat Sirota in her home, causing cuts and bruises. When a neighbor rang Sirota's doorbell the suspect ran off.

Sirota was taken to a local hospital for treatment of her injuries.

The suspect was only described as a black female in her 20's. Anyone with any information is asked to call police.
