Police charge man with throwing Yorkshire Terrier off balcony

OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Baltimore County Police say they arrested a man who threw a Yorkshire Terrier off a balcony.

Gary Wallace, Jr. faces animal mutilation and animal cruelty charges.  It happened around 7 p.m. Sunday on Mill Centre Drive. 

According to police, the Yorkshire Terrier, named Lonie, was thrown almost 50 feet across the street, from a height of more than 23 feet.

A woman picked up the dog and took it to Falls Road Animal Hospital for head and possible spinal injuries.  There's no word on the dog's condition,.

Wallace is being held at Baltimore County Detention Center on $250,000 bail.  Police say they don't know why the man threw the dog off the balcony.
