MILFORD MILL, Md. - Baltimore County Police are hoping to turn back the clock to a McDonald’s restaurant on Liberty Road a year ago today where surveillance photos show three men who, at least to this point, may have gotten away with murder.
They followed 21-year old Neeko Gales to his car and forced their way in.
Neeko was on his cellphone at the time, and a friend called police concerned for his safety.
He was supposed to pick up his mother at the subway that night.
"My husband called en route to my destination to tell me that he may be in trouble, and I didn't want to believe it,” said Bernice Gales, “but when I got to my destination and he wasn't there, then I knew, because my son would never not pick me up."
Later that night, just a few blocks from the McDonald’s, someone spotted a car parked in their reserved spot with a driver sitting unresponsive behind the wheel.
It was Neeko.
"He was found with multiple gunshot wounds in his car in the 8100 block of Salt Lake Drive," said Baltimore County Police Cpl. Cathy Batton.
A year later, police are still no closer to catching the men who cut short the life of the Catonsville Community College student who aspired to become a musician and producer.
"We think about him every day, all day. Some days are more difficult than others, but there's never a day that goes by. It'll be this way for us for the rest of our lives," said his grieving mother who is hoping by offering a $10,000 reward, someone will help them find their son’s killer, "I pray that people will look at these pictures (and) someone will recognize these people or even if you're not sure that you know them, if you know them or think you may know them, please pick the phone up and call cause we need justice for our son."
Anyone with information on the suspects’ identities or whereabouts is asked to call Baltimore County Police at 410-307-2020.
The private reward is for the killer’s arrest and conviction, while Metro Crime Stoppers is offering up to $2,000 more for an arrest and indictment.
