Man sentenced in home invasion, murder

MILFORD MILL, Md. - Kelly Shird was sentenced today in the shooting death of Craig Bouie during a burglary attempt.
Shird was sentenced to life plus 20 years in prison for his role in the murder. Shird was convicted of first degree murder in October 2011.
Shird shot and killed Bouie on August 5, 2010 at about 2:00 a.m. at Bouie's home in Milford Mill.
Bouie had been upstairs with his wife feeding their 1-month-old son as Shird broke into their home. When Bouie confronted Shird who had broken into his home.
A struggle between Shird and Bouie ensued and Shird shot him 3 times before fleeing the area.
Bouie's wife, infant son, an 11-year-old girl and a 7-year-old boy were all in the house at the time of the murder.
