Man dead in Essex hit-and-run

ESSEX, Md. - Baltimore County Police are investigating the strange circumstances of a hit-and-run in Essex that left a man dead Friday night.

Police said that around 8:12 p.m. a 911 caller reported a man was lying the middle of Old Eastern Avenue who appeared to have been hit by a car. When officers arrived they found a man, later identified as Dennis John Flurry, 55, lying in the road. Flurry was taken to Bayview Hosital where he later died.

A preliminary investigation found that Flurry was lying in the northbound lane of Old Eastern Avenue when he was hit by an unknown car which then fled the scene. Investigators believe that the car may have damage to the lower front bumper and undercarriage.

The hit-and-run is being investigated by the Baltimore County Police Crash Team. Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call Baltimore County Police at 410-887-0220 or 410-307-2020.
