HALETHORPE, Md. (WMAR) - A Baltimore County father is behind bars tonight after police say he stabbed his teenage son in the neck Saturday.

Baltimore County Police responded to calls of a stabbing at a home in the 600 block of Washington Avenue in Halethorpe on Saturday.

Once crews arrived on the scene, they found a teenage male standing in the front yard with a large stab wound on his neck.

It would be what the 14-year-old victim told police at the scene that led to an arrest.

Police say the victim told police that he and his father were in the attic looking at knives when his dad stabbed him in the neck.

Fifty-year-old Charles Palmer is facing attempted first degree murder, first degree assault, first degree child abuse, and related charges.

Police report Palmer is being held at Baltimore County Detention Center without bail.

The unidentified victim was transported to a local hospital where it was determined he would survive.
