Congressional candidate charged

A former congressional candidate has been charged with illegal voting. 

 

State Prosecutor Emmet Davitt, has announced that Wendy Rosen, a former candidate for Congress in the First District of Maryland, has been charged in the Circuit Court for Baltimore County with illegally voting in Baltimore County. 

 

Rosen, 58, was the Democratic nominated for Congress in the First District in the 2012 General Election. The charges are the result of a joint investigation between the Office of the State Prosecutor and the Office of the State's Attorney for Pinellas County, Florida. 

 

The charges allege that Rosen voted in Baltimore County, in 2006 and 2010 Maryland general elections without the legal right to do so. Each instance is punishable by up to 5 years in jail and a fine of $2,500. 

 

State Prosecutor Davitt said, "Illegal voting is an offense that strikes at the very heart of our electoral process. Violations such as these will not be tolerated."
