CATONSVILLE, Md. (WMAR) - The Office of the State Fire Marshal has arrested and charged the man responsible for a bedroom fire at the Spring Grove Hospital.

Charges have been filed against a 22-year-old male client of the hospital center.

On Sunday at about 8:30 p.m., the hospital staff was alerted to a small fire in the client's bedroom inside the Dayhoff Building. The fire was quickly extinguished.

The investigation revealed that the client was responsible for the intentional setting of the fire that involved clothing inside his room and a lighter that was found on his person.

The soot and smoke from the fire caused about $200 in damage to the interior of the room.

The client was charged with first and second degree arson, malicious burning and reckless endangerment. He remains at Spring Grove Hospital on a $250,000 bond.

Officials say the name of the client will not be released due to sensitivity issues and HIPPA laws.
