BALTIMORE -
ABC2 news has learned that the family member who angrily defended a Baltimore County deacon arrested on child pornography charges Friday is a convicted sex offender.
Daniel William Garrett , 31, is listed on the Maryland Sex Offender Registry as a 4 th degree sex offender.
His father-in-law, William Albaugh, 67, formerly a deacon at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Nottingham, was arrested Friday and charged with possession of child pornography. Detectives began investigating Albaugh last month when Verizon Online notified the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that one of its subscribers had stored images of child pornography on the online "cloud" storage system.
When ABC2 reporter Cheryl Conner asked Garret for a comment on his father-in-law's arrest, he said, “He don't want to speak to you or no one around his neighborhood, so go." Garrett became agitated and aggressive enough that ABC2 crews called 911. Watch the video here .
