Vigil will mark the death of a 15-year-old boy and call on the killer to come forward

Above the steps where Raquan Campbell, 15, was shot, are the words his mother lives by.

"I truly believe that everything that's done in the dark will come to light," said Lystra Ali, Campbell’s mom. 

It was dark on December 1, 2010 when police say at least one person fired several shots at the corner of Pratt and Payson in West Baltimore.  There were ten shots to be exact, according to Campbell's mom, including several in his face.

"When I tell you I have no clue, I have no clue.  So if Raquan was going there he was sneaking to go there," said Ali.   

The boy lived miles away in South Baltimore, playing football and considering a career in the military.  He joined ROTC at Edmondson High.  Now his ashes are next to his dream.

"Today we are just like we were two years ago.  No idea, no clue, no details, no anything," said Ali.    

Baltimore Police say Campbell is one of 139 unsolved murders in 2010 alone.

"They continue to actively investigate this case.  This case remains open and again we're asking for any information from the public that could help detectives," said Det. Jeremy Silbert, Baltimore Police spokesman.    

No new information has surfaced.  There's no motive.  But eyes are wide open for those who live on Payson.

"This community is plagued with drugs is the main issue in this community.  You see people walking up and down.  You see them selling," said Alvin Edwards.   

Police and Raquan Campbell's mom can't say why he was in the community.  But there's a plea for the killer, one that goes beyond closure for the family.

"I pray for him all the time.  I pray for his mother.  So my deepest concern is that he gets some help.  He needs some help," said Ali.    

Family and friends will hold a vigil Saturday night to remember Raquan Campbell's life.  It will be held at 6:30 at the corner of Pratt and Payson.
