Police make quick arrest in assault

BALTIMORE (WMAR) - Baltimore City Police have arrested and charged a man with an assault and robbery that happened early this morning in North Baltimore.

At about 3:30 a.m., officers responded to a report of a robbery in the 3300 block of Keswick Road.

The victim told police that he was driving a taxi cab in the block when his passenger took out a knife and announced a robbery. The victim struggled with the suspect and sustained minor lacerations to his neck and hands.

The suspect was able to flee from the location with an unknown amount of money.

During the course of the investigation, police at the Citywide Robbery Unit saw Branden Barnes walking in the 3300 block of Keswick Avenue. Barnes was apprehended and placed under arrest.

Barnes was charged with robbery, assault and theft.
